Senior Programs

Purpose

Our senior residents are cherished members of our community, bringing with them wisdom, stories, and experiences that enrich our lives. We are dedicated to nurturing a welcoming and supportive environment where they can thrive, stay connected, and enjoy a meaningful quality of life. Through local activities, we encourage healthy aging while supporting their physical, mental, and emotional well-being.

Chair Yoga

In partnership with Alliance on Aging, the City of Greenfield invites our senior residents to join us for Chair Yoga every 1st, 3rd, and 4th Thursday of the month. These gentle classes are designed to support balance, flexibility, and overall well-being, all while providing a safe and comfortable environment.

Chair Yoga is more than just exercise—it’s a chance to relax, recharge, and connect with friends in the community. Whether you’re new to yoga or have some experience, everyone is welcome to join and enjoy the benefits of movement, mindfulness, and togetherness.

Community Walks/Walk & Zumba

In November 2023, we began hosting weekly walks in partnership with the Blue Zones Project. While the walks were open to everyone, we were delighted to see that many of our participants were seniors, who brought wonderful energy and community spirit to each gathering.

Now known as our Community Walks—formerly the Blue Zone Community Walks—these outings provide a safe and welcoming space for neighbors to connect, stay active, and support both physical and emotional well-being.

We’re excited to share that the walks will be starting up again soon. Stay tuned for details, and we hope you’ll join us on the path to health, friendship, and fun!

SOCOS SOCIAL

Together, we make great things happen! On the second Wednesday of every month, the City of Greenfield joins hands with Meals on Wheels of the Salinas Valley to host a special luncheon for our seniors ages 60 and over. This gathering is more than just a meal—it’s a chance to share laughter, enjoy music and dancing, and connect with local agencies that are here to support our senior community.

We are grateful to the Greenfield Veterans Memorial District for generously providing the space for this event, and to the Monterey County Food Bank for offering fresh produce boxes to every attendee—often even preparing the meal itself.

To help us prepare enough meals for everyone, we kindly ask that you register in advance by calling (831) 277-0514. The deadline to sign up is the Friday before the event. We look forward to welcoming you to our next SOCOS Social—where community, connection, and celebration come together!

Wreath Making Workshop

In partnership with Alliance on Aging, the City of Greenfield invites you to join us every 4th Wednesday of the month for our Wreath Making Workshop—a fun and creative way to spend time with friends, meet new people, and add a touch of beauty to your home.

These workshops are open to all seniors and offer a warm, welcoming space to connect, share stories, and enjoy the joy of hands-on creativity together. While registration isn’t required, we encourage you to sign up in advance so we can ensure there are enough materials for everyone to fully enjoy the experience.

Come craft with us, bring your ideas to life, and take home a wreath made with your own hands and heart!
