About Us
In 2021 the Grants Coordinator was hired to administer the Emergency Rental Assistance Funds secured by the City of Greenfield. The Grants Coordinator was also tasked with researching and applying for additional grants to bolster department projects and address the needs of many in our community.
In 2022, the department underwent an official name change, approved by Greenfield City Council, transitioning from the Grants Department to the Community Engagement Department. This reclassification better aligned with the departments focus of fostering community involvement. To meet the evolving needs of this growing department, a full -time assistant was hired, with a second program assistant joining the team in 2023.
The department's objectives are closely aligned with the city's mission statement:
"We are committed to improving the quality of life in the City of Greenfield by strengthening our neighborhoods, delivering superior services, embracing the diversity of our citizens, and making Greenfield a desirable, safe city in which to live, work, raise a family, shop, study, play and grow old.
The Community Engagement Department is committed to providing high-quality programs that serve youth, young adults and senior residents. Through meaningful partnerships and proactive outreach, we offer educational and informative workshops for the community and connect families to vital resources that promote stability and well-being. Our programs also offer leadership development, skills training and opportunities for civic engagement. Our department actively seeks grant funding opportunities that increase our capacity to support community members in overcoming challenges and accessing resources that help them thrive. We are dedicated to creating a welcoming environment where individuals who participate in our programs and workshops feel supported and equipped to build a brighter, more resilient future for themselves and their families.
