Community Engagement Department (Full-time, 40 hours) Mon - Fri

Quick glance: Purpose of the Community Engagement Department is to enhance the quality of life of Greenfield residents through various programs that will create civic engagement opportunities that build relationships and connections between residents and the city. 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Assist with the implementation of various programs tailored to our Greenfield residents. 
  • Maintaining our social media platforms engaged.
  • Assist in managing various workshops we conduct. 
  • Help respond to community phone calls on a variety of topics. 

Community Development (Full-Time, 40 hours) Mon - Fri

Quick glance: The mission of the Community Development Department is to provide the community with planning, building inspection, and development-related services in an efficient manner.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Collaborate with community development staff to create and manage engaging social media content that highlights department initiatives

  • Research and develop innovative strategies to enhance community engagement and participation

  • Assist in updating the department's website with current and relevant information to ensure accuracy and accessibility

  • Review and comprehend land use and zoning documents, including the General Plan and Municipal Code, to provide necessary assistance effectively


Finance Department (Full-time, 40 hours) Mon - Fri

Quick glance: The Financial Services Department is responsible for finance, accounting, coordination and development of the biannual budget, and reporting on the Successor Agency recognized obligations to the California Department of Finance. 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Data Analysis: Analyzing financial data to identify trends, variances, and insights that support decision-making processes. This may involve using tools like Excel to perform calculations and create reports.
  • Financial Reporting: Assist in preparing financial reports.
  • Administrative Support: This includes scheduling meetings, handling communications, and maintaining organized records to ensure smooth departmental operations.
  • Assisting with Audits: Participate in audits by preparing audit schedule, examining financial records, ensuring accuracy, and learning about compliance principles.
  • Collaboration: To work closely with finance team members, including the accountant, finance technician, and utility billing, to support various projects and initiatives.

Public Works (Full-Time, 40 hrs.) M-F

Quick glance: Public Works Department is the organizational unit responsible for coordinating administrative matters for departmental operations and divisions.  The Public Works Department manages and maintains the physical infrastructures of various locations. 

Responsibilities may include:

  • Contributing to the maintenance of city infrastructure, including municipal buildings, parks and landscaping, sewer systems, streets, storm drainage, water systems, and city vehicles and equipment.
  • Operating power tools to perform various tasks.
  • Assisting with street repairs, including painting and general upkeep.
  • Performing janitorial duties and ensuring cleanliness in city buildings.
  • Supporting special projects initiated by the Public Works department.

Recreational Department (Part-Time 20-25 hrs. per week) Days Vary

Quick glance: The Greenfield Recreation Department is at the heart of our community, planning and coordinating a wide variety of recreational programs, from sports and art classes to special events and social activities for youth, adults, and seniors. As an intern, you’ll play an important role in making these events a success while gaining valuable experience in a supportive, dynamic environment.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Event Promotion & Outreach: Help promote exciting Recreation Department events in the community by distributing flyers, pamphlets, and other promotional materials.
  • Program Leadership: Lead and assist with recreational activities for youth, adults, and seniors, ensuring participants have a fun and enriching experience.
  • Sports & Arts Programming: Get hands-on experience by supporting a range of sports, arts, and educational programs for all ages.
  • Customer Service: Answer phone calls and handle payments when assigned front desk duties, providing excellent service to the public.
  • Facility Maintenance: Assist with the organization, cleaning, and sanitizing of recreation spaces to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.

Greenfield Science Workshop (Part-Time), 20-25 hours per week (Days Vary) *Note: 2 Positions Available*

Quick glance: The Greenfield Community Science Workshop (Greenfield CSW) is a vibrant, community-centered space in South Monterey County where youth and their families can freely explore, create, and connect with science. By providing hands-on experiences with science exhibits, shop tools, and natural specimens, the workshop inspires curiosity and joy in a welcoming environment. Through both in-house programs and outreach, Greenfield CSW encourages students from underrepresented backgrounds to engage with STEM in a low-tech, accessible setting that prioritizes exploration and discovery over rigid structure, making science accessible to all.

Responsibilities may include:

  • Program Development Assistant: Facilitate or assist with the facilitation of Greenfield CSW programs
  • Educational Materials Coordinator: Assist in the preparation of classroom and lesson materials that support hands-on science learning.
  • Exhibit Builder: Build or assist with building and maintaining hands-on educational exhibits.
  • Community Outreach Specialist: Promote Greenfield CSW programs to students and families by engaging with the community at local events and gatherings
  • Marketing and Social Media Assistant: Support marketing efforts by helping with social media and creating promotional materials
