Captain Paredes began his career with the Los Angeles Police Department in 1996, and he initially worked Hollywood Patrol then the Hollywood Field Enforcement Section. He was later transferred to 77th Street Division in South Central Los Angeles, marking the start of a long and impactful tenure in various roles within the LAPD.

During his time at the 77th Division, Captain Paredes served in multiple capacities, including patrol, gang officer, gang detective, training officer, and the Special Problems Unit. His dedication to gang-related work continued with a transfer to the South Bureau Criminal-Gang Homicide Division, where he collaborated on several federal task forces with the ATF, DEA, FBI, and Secret Service. His efforts were instrumental in bringing justice to countless victims and enhancing the safety of Los Angeles. Captain Paredes’ expertise in gang-related homicide investigations and his contributions to these task forces were invaluable.

His dedication and leadership were recognized with a well-deserved promotion to police sergeant, leading to his transfer to the Hollenbeck Division.

In 2024, after 28 years of distinguished service, Captain Paredes retired from the LAPD, and was recruited by Chief Guillermo Mixer to join the Greenfield Police Department as a captain.

Captain Paredes holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Fullerton, and a Master of Arts degree in Leadership and Organizational Studies from Azusa Pacific University. He has been married for 27 years and has two lovely adult children and a handsome grandson. Family is of utmost importance to him, and he cherishes the time spent with his loved ones.
