Introduction to the General Plan Update
Welcome to the General Plan Update. The General Plan represents the most direct expression of local priorities, setting for the community's vision for the future of Greenfield and the means to accomplish that vision.
Abiding by California state law it is time to reassess the priorities, goals, and vision for the future of Greenfield's community. This updated General Plan will have twenty-year planning horizon from 2025-2045. The 2025-2045 General Plan update requires the participation of residents, business owners, and every City department to create the future we want to achieve together. There will be several public events and activities to receive input from City residents. More information can be located under the tabs at the bottom of the page.

Description of the General Plan
The General Plan is a comprehensive planning document meant to be a guideline to implement the community's vision and priorities for the next 20 years. According to State law the City of Greenfield is required to address 9 required topics as elements including:
- Land Use
- Circulation
- Housing
- Conservation
- Open Space
- Noise
- Safety
- Environmental Justice
- Air Quality
The City will keep the additional elements from the 2005 General Plan as they are still priorities for the community. New additional elements recommended by the State will also be included among this list of additional elements. Each additional element will be updated to be consistent with the elements required by State law.
